Recycling Glass in Malaysia

Recycling Glass in Malaysia

Recycling Glass in Malaysia

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Recycling old glass bottles in Sabah, Malaysia.

During her recent visit to Sabah, Krystyna rolled up her sleeves and joined the local recycling initiative, turning glass waste into something beautiful and useful.

From trash to treasure, while fuelling local businesses.

Thousands of bottles, once bound for landfills, are now crushed, sifted, and transformed into things like garden tiles, furniture, and handmade crafts. The project is more than just green. It doesn’t just clean up Sabah’s beaches and hotels, it fuels the local economy by supplying recycled materials to entrepreneurs who turn them into products. That means more jobs, more income, and less waste.

What if every country had one?

“What if every community had something like this?” Krystyna asked, as she stood among the piles of bottles waiting for their second chance. That question lingers.Because the real power of this initiative isn’t in the machinery, it’s in the mindset. That protecting our planet isn’t about perfection, but about small, consistent acts.
